Brain Gym (Teachers Edition: Revised)This is the ultimate how-to book for BrainGym. It has all 26 movements plus a really great guide for determining what BrainGyms work best for specific educational tasks.

bg_businessBrain Gym for Business: Instant Brain Boosters for On-The-Job Success Feeling a bit sluggish and draggy at work? This one will become your new resource to replace coffee or a soda.

SmartMovesSmart Moves: Why Learning Is Not All in Your Head Straight up—this book is tough to get started because the first few chapters are serious science. Once you get through the heavy stuff, it gets really awesome. Every teacher and parent will appreciate this book’s eye-opening revelations. I have taken classes under the author of this book. She is a very “with-it” person. Definitely worth your time and money.

dominance_factorThe Dominance Factor: How Knowing Your Dominant Eye, Ear, Brain, Hand, & Foot Can Improve Your Learning This is the book that kept me from doing serious damage to my own child. I was able to figure out why one daughter responded so differently to everything, especially punishment, with this book. This is also an  Angie Recommended Must Have for any married couple. Sure makes some of those annoying quirks easier to tolerate when you realize how your mate is hard-wired.

Hands on: How to Use Brain Gym in the ClassroomHands_On
I don’t have, but I have seen it. The pictures are awesome. Great resource (according to those who have it) for the classroom.

childI Am the Child: Using Brain Gym with Children Who Have Special Needs Cecilia K. Freeman has quite a story of her experiences working with severely, profoundly handicapped children and the remarkable strides they made while using the BrainGym movements.

Bal-A-Vis-X : Rhythmic Balance/Auditory/Vision eXercises for Brain and Brain-Body Integration bavxBill Hubert is a remarkable person and a pretty amazing teacher. I can say that because I have had the privilege of meeting him and working with him on several occasions. Bal-A-Vis-X (BAVX) is the story of how he developed rhythmic exercises over a 30 year career. BAVX is different from BrainGym, yet it is very closely related. It definitely has a place in the brain-body development field.

resonanceResonance: Elise and other Bal-A-Vis-X Stories Resonance is a followup to Bill’s BAVX book. It conains the stories of the many lives that have been touched by his work. This one is on my list to get very soon.

Trauma Recovery – You Are A Winner; A New Choice Through Natural Developmental Movements traumaThe authors of this book are some pretty amazing people. Seems like I’ve said something similar about the others, too. These ladies have done some pretty phenomenal work with children who have been through horrible trauma.

seniorOvercoming Senior Moments Honestly, I don’t know a thing about this book or this author. However, I figure I might want to get a jump on things since the other side of the hill is in sight. :-)

These are some other reading/listening materials that have made a difference in my understanding of how the brain works with the body.
